3.5 starsI received a free/promotional copy of this (21 page) short story. There's not really a STORY-story here (something with a character arc and a beginning, middle and end), and that's okay. A soldier is seriously wounded in a hot sandy place, and as he is lying in the sand, he flashes back to erotic memories of himself and his beautiful now-wife.
The sex scenes are very hot, BUT the author engages in one of my pet peeves, head-hopping. Bad enough to have it happen in the same paragraph; worse when it's in the same sentence. If she cleaned this up, and stayed with one point of a view at a time, this would be excellent erotica. It also ends with something of a cliffhanger/tease, so if that kind of ending bothers you, you may not like this. Despite those flaws, I still liked it very much.
